After moderate to occasionally heavy rain across the KVOE listening area early Saturday, there is a reduced chance of more rainfall and a low-end risk of severe weather for Saaturday night.
There is currently a slight chance overall for thunderstorms before midnight. Severe weather is unlikely but possible, with a marginal risk of hail and wind along and south of Interstate 35 and US Highway 50.
The chances of rain through midnight follow reports of 1-2 inches of rainfall across much of Lyon County. Totals as of noon:

Totals from Morris County have not been reported, but the Sheriff’s Office says several roads in the northeast part of the county are either impassable due to water over them or due to muddy driving conditions.
Non-severe storms are possible Sunday afternoon, and Emporia fireworks show pyrotechnician Bernie Toso tells KVOE News there should be no weather-related issues with the show at Emporia State University on Sunday night. Fireworks at the ESU soccer pitch north of Interstate 35 may well be wrapped to protect them from rainfall.

Areas south of Interstate 35 and the Kansas Turnpike have a marginal severe weather risk for hail and wind Saturday evening. Sunday evening should be dry for Independence Day fireworks shows in Emporia, Cottonwood Falls and Admire.

4:30-7 pm Friday: Storms trigger single severe thunderstorm warning west of Emporia
Storms were isolated late Friday afternoon into the evening hours, and only one approached severe strength.
Northwest Chase County was under a severe thunderstorm warning late Friday afternoon. No severe weather was reported afterward.

2 pm FRIDAY: Flood watch for Lyon, most surrounding counties begins at 1 am Saturday
Most area counties are in a flood watch intl early Saturday afternoon.
The National Weather Service has announced a flood watch for Lyon, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties from 1 am to 1 pm Saturday. The Weather Service anticipates 1-2 inches of rain with some areas receiving up to double those amounts.
All area are under a marginal severe weather risk for the prospect of hail and wind.

6:20 am Friday: Marginal severe weather risk in place for late Friday night, early Saturday morning
Strong and severe thunderstorms are unlikely but possible Friday night into early Saturday.
The Storm Prediction Center has areas north of a Matfield Green to Madison to Gridley line in a marginal severe weather risk. Storms could bring hail up to quarter size and winds as high as 60 mph. Heavy rainfall is also a concern with storms that develop, especially in the overnight hours early Saturday.
Storms could continue off-and-on for most of Saturday before chances diminish Sunday. The current forecast has warm but dry conditions for Emporia’s Independence Day fireworks show Sunday night.
