The summer hasn’t slowed down operations at Abundant Harvest.
In fact, Director Lee Alderman says things have stayed busy, and that’s even with the popular monthly food pantry involving Kansas Food Bank, Tyson Foods and other contributors off the schedule until further notice.
Abundant Harvest has been offering nightly meals for years, although the schedule has been trimmed to Monday and Wednesday evenings and the original sit-down format changed to drive-thru during the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic. Alderman says the drive-thru format will likely remain until further notice.
Abundant Harvest also has commodity giveaways most weekday mornings, essentially with two shifts — one around 5 am and another around 8:30 am. This typically involves food picked up the previous day for the early offering and food picked up between 4:30- 8 am for availability by 8:30 am.
