The Houston Astros walked off with a 7-6 win over the Kansas City Royals Monday.
The Royals had built a 5-0 lead scoring 2 runs in the 1st and 2nd innings. M.J. Melendez hit a solo home run in the 3rd inning to give the Royals the 5-0 lead.
Melendez added a solo home run in the 8th inning to give the Royals a 6-3 lead. Houston would tie the game in the bottom of the 8th and won the game in the bottom of the 9th when Yordan Alvarez hit a home run with 2 outs to win it for the Astros.
Royals manager Mike Matheny said the job done by starter Jonathan Heasley, who went 6 innings and gave up just 2 runs, deserved better.
The Royals and Astros play again Tuesday night, Zack Greinke will be the starting pitcher for the Royals. First pitch is set for 7:10 pm. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM beginning at 6:30 pm.
