The Houston Astros rallied for a 9-7 win over the Kansas City Royals Tuesday night.
The Royals scored a run in the 1st inning, Whit Merrifield scoring on a Bobby Witt Jr single. M.J. Melendez hit a solo home run in the 2nd inning. Houston tied the game in the bottom of the 2nd. In the 3rd inning, Bobby Witt Jr hit a 2-run home run to give the lead back to the Royals. Houston rallied with a run in the 4th inning and took the lead for good with 3 runs in the 5th inning. Houston hit 4 home runs in their 8th straight win. Zack Greinke took the loss giving up 6 runs on 10 hits over 5 innings.
Bobby Witt Jr was hit in the hand in the 9th inning. Initial X-rays done at the stadium were negative for fractures on Tuesday night, and both Witt and the team seemed optimistic. But based on the symptoms Witt was experiencing after the game, including swelling, there may be additional tests done, and he’s considered day-to-day.
The Royals and Astros play again tonight. Brad Keller will be the starting pitcher for the Royals. The first pitch is set for 7:10 pm. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM beginning at 6:30 pm.
