Flinthills Mall Manager Clarence Frye is confident the mall’s newest addition may help increase its reach across the local area.
During the grand opening of Dunham’s Sports Friday morning, Frye took time to speak with KVOE News and says it is fitting that the day before the 50th-anniversary celebration of the mall they are beginning a new era. He says the new addition will likely help to “pull” more shoppers to Emporia which will see the entire community prosper.
Dunham’s District Manager James Haden agreed and says Emporia was an ideal location to open yet another Kansas store. Dunham’s offers footwear; apparel, a hunting, fishing and watersports area; fitness equipment; team sports equipment; and a broad selection of games for both indoor and outdoor enjoyment.
Haden says simply put, Dunham’s in the business of “fun.”
Dunham’s replaces JC Penny which closed its doors late last year after more than 30 years of operation in Emporia. The first 75 adult customers to make purchases Friday received a Dunham’s gift card, with one worth $100.
Giveaways will continue through the weekend. The first 50 people making purchases Saturday will receive a Dunham’s Sports T-shirt and the first 50 people to make purchases Sunday will get a Dunham’s Sports baseball cap.
According to Haden, the new business has created roughly 75 new full-time and part-time positions.
