The daughter of retiring Lyon County judge Merlin Wheeler is again among the applicants for the Kansas Court of Appeals.
Kristen Wheeler, an attorney from Wichita, is among 11 applicants for the position opening up when current judge Anthony Powell retires.
Interviews will be held in Lawrence at a later date.
Wheeler has been a finalist for a Kansas Supreme Court position when prior justice Carol Beier retired and has applied twice previously for the Court of Appeals.
Merlin Wheeler is ending a better than 30-year career as judge in Lyon County in early September but will be on senior judge status afterward, traveling the state with a reduced workload.
