Emporia High School graduates from all generations are being invited back to Emporia for a weekend full of activities, reflection and reunions.
Emporia Main Street and Visit Emporia are teaming up to host the first Emporia Apella reunion. Activities will begin Friday and run through Saturday according to Main Street Events Coordinator Jessica Buccholz.
The term Apella is an ancient Greek word that referred to a “large gathering.” Dains says with Emporia High being home to the Spartans, the term made sense.
Unlike in ancient Greece, this weekend’s activities will not include a scheduled mass gathering, however, representatives have been working to schedule individual gatherings for their respective classes.
