Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Orlando Brown Jr will be playing under a franchise tag in the coming season following a breakdown in contract negotiations.
According to ESPN, the Chiefs and Brown failed to reach an agreement on a new contract ahead of the 4 pm franchise tag and contract extension deadline Friday. Brown rejected a final six-year $139 million offer from the Chiefs that included a $30.25 million signing bonus and $95 million in the first five years sources told ESPN.
Sources also say that while the two sides could not come to an agreement there is hope they will be able to secure a new deal following the 2022-23 season. Brown is set to earn more than $16.6 million this year under the franchise tag.
