The Kansas City Royals fell behind early and wound up losing to Toronto 8-1 Friday night.
Starter Zack Greinke only went four innings, giving up four runs on eight hits, but Manager Mike Matheny says Greinke ran into some bad luck.
The Royals offense only had five hits for the game. On the bright side, rookie Nick Pratto got his first two big-league hits, a single and a double. Several replacement players called up after 10 regulars couldn’t make the trip due to COVID-19 vaccination status also got their first action, including Maikel Garcia at shortstop, Michael Massey as a pinch-hitter and Felix Fermin at catcher.
