There’s a good foundation for growth after the first Emporia High all-class Apella reunion.
Organizer Casey Woods says there were several reasons for an all-class format, including a reflection of the original high school experience.
Woods says an all-class reunion is attractive from a business standpoint because it locks in a weekend, which is good for advertising and staff planning. It’s also following a trend developing nationwide to celebrate all classes instead of a special anniversary year.
This year’s Apella included citywide tours, a scavenger hunt, Friday’s Moonlight Madness shopping event, music and class parties.
For next year, Woods anticipates a “buttoning-down” of different communications with class leaders to enhance specific activities, as well as develop new events available to all Emporia High classes.
