Cyclists from almost all ages enjoyed themselves during the Gravel City Night Out on Saturday.
Garret Hammond of Olpe was the youngest participant in the 50-mile ride. He says he was glad to finish, given the relatively hilly course.
Among the cyclists participating was Emporian Larry Lewis, who said it was a pretty good summer evening for a ride.
Cyclists — close to 200 in all — dealt with air temperatures in the mid-90s at the start of the ride, although temperatures dipped back to the low 80s as the night wore on.
This year’s version had a different format, ending behind Mulready’s Pub instead of at the start line behind Gravel City Adventure and Supply Company. It was also a deliberately scaled-down event, although there were food trucks and live music as part of the activities.
