In-person advanced voting is underway for the 2022 primary election and turnout has already been steady.
In-person voting began Monday morning inside the Lyon County Clerk’s Office and Clerk Tammy Vopat says they saw roughly 60 individuals stop in and cast their ballots just before noon. Given several of the items on this year’s ballot, Vopat says she expects this steady stream of residents to continue all the way up to election day.
Voters can cast their ballots inside the clerk’s office between 8 am and 5 pm on weekdays now through Aug. 1. Off-site advanced voting will begin Wednesday inside of the Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building. Hours will be:
Wednesday – 10 am to 4 pm
Thursday – 10 am to 6 pm
Friday – 10 am to 4 pm
Saturday – 9 am to 1 pm.
Vopat reminds anyone who plans to cast their ballot in person they must bring a valid photo ID and due to electioneering laws, no campaign materials may be worn within 200 feet of a polling site. In-person voting comes nearly a week after mail ballots were sent out to right around 500 local voters.
Vopat reminds mail ballot recipients they must have those returned to the clerk’s office by election day or postmarked on election day. For more information visit the elections page at Lyoncounty.org.
