Chase County Sheriff Richard Dorneker is retiring.
In a social media post to the residents of Chase County, Dorneker said the decision has been bittersweet but is right for him and his family.
Dorneker has served as Chase County’s lead law enforcement official for over 17 years after starting his law enforcement career in the county in 1994. He thanked the residents of Chase County for trusting him with law enforcement matters as well as his staff for their work and support.
Dorneker’s last day as sheriff is Sept. 1.
