Alan Alanis (al-uh-NEES) went from Day 1 of a potentially four-day preliminary hearing to an arraignment hearing in about 20 minutes Monday.
Alanis was scheduled to begin his preliminary hearing for his alleged involvement in the death of Jesus Avila nearly five years ago, but he waived his hearing instead. He will return to Lyon County District Court for a pretrial and arraignment at 2 pm Aug. 5.
Alanis is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, aggravated robbery, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, arson and other charges in Avila’s murder from September 2017.
Three of Alanis’ co-defendants will have hearings next month, based on the current court docket:
*Jordy Cornejo-Campoverde is tentatively awaiting a status hearing August 12.
*Andrew Granado and Jovan Pecina are set for pretrials August 17 and trials August 22-September 9.
Samuel Garcia tentatively has a preliminary hearing set to start Halloween.
Armando Nunez was recently sentenced to nearly four years in prison for single counts of attempted burglary of a vehicle with intent to steal a firearm, interference with law enforcement and criminal damage.
