CareArc employees are receiving an increase in pay as the competition for qualified staff continues nationwide.
CareArc Executive Director Renee Hively announced the increase during the CareArc Board of Directors meeting Tuesday saying “it is not a raise” but rather a cost of living adjustment (COLA) increase. Hively says the COLA is part of CareArc’s efforts to keep up with the competitive nature of their industry.
CareArc would not disclose the exact percentage of the COLA increase, however, Hively says it comes at a time when demand for qualified nursing and position staff is at an all-time high. It also comes as the health center is seeing a high level of turnover in entry-level positions.
In other business, the board reviewed the center’s needs assessment required every three years by HRSA. Hively says there were no “shocking” revelations divulged through the report, however, she says there is an increased need for both behavioral health and dental services in the local community.
Hively says these are two of the more difficult positions to recruit.
The monthly financial report for June showed the health center had a more than $16,000 net gain bringing the year-to-date gain to $293,000. This followed a $30,000 net loss for the month of May.
The CareArc Board will reconvene in August.
