The interview schedule will be announced later, but the 5th Judicial District Nominating Commission has named the finalists to replace Merlin Wheeler on the Lyon County District Court bench.
Nominees moving forward to the interview process includes:
*Doug Jones, currently the district’s magistrate judge and the municipal court judge in Cottonwood Falls
*Laura Miser, assistant Lyon County attorney
*Elizabeth Oliver, assistant Anderson County attorney, an attorney at Oliver Law Office and an adjunct instructor at Neosho County Community College
*Jeremy Dorsey, legal counsel for Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services
Wheeler’s position is opening up Sept. 3 after he retires.
The Nominating Commission meets by videoconference at noon Thursday. Interviews will take place Aug. 11 at the Lyon County Courthouse.
