Habitat for Humanity continues its work on its 26th home build.
Director Eric Kirby says things are progressing well at 427 State, thanks to a lot of volunteers.
The 3-bed, 1-bath home has around 1,200 square feet and a detached garage. It could be done by March 2023.
Habitat is reviewing eight applications from potential homeowners. Kirby says the review committee will look at housing need, ability to pay mortgage and sweat equity — or homeowner labor to help build the house.
Separately, Habitat has sold its most recent build at 502 State. The sale price likely won’t be announced until closing in the fall, but Kirby is pleased with that process because this home was built as a fundraiser for future Habitat projects. Habitat also has two properties ready for future builds and is looking to acquire more.
