The steambath has returned.
After a relatively mild and damp week last week, sultry conditions returned in force Sunday with a high of 94 and peak heat index of 104.
Hot, sticky conditions will continue for much of the week ahead. A heat advisory begins at 1 pm Monday for all area counties and doesn’t wrap up until 8 pm Tuesday — and it could be extended. Monday’s projected high is 98 with a heat index as high as 102. Tuesday could get to 101 with a heat index of 104. Wednesday could reach 100 with similar heat index readings.
Wednesday could see some relief by late afternoon with a chance of showers and storms. There is also a marginal risk of severe weather, with wind and hail the main concerns.
