Home runs by Salvador Perez and Whit Merrifield carried the Kansas City Royals to a 2-1 win over the Chicago White Sox Monday night.
Daniel Lynch made the start for the Royals after being activated off the 15-day injury list, he lasted 5.1 innings giving up 6 hits with 7 strikeouts and no walks.
Scott Barlow would earn his 17th save.
The Royals and White Sox play again Tuesday night. Brad Keller will be the Starting pitcher with first pitch set for 7:10 pm.
The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM, coverage begins at 6:30 pm.
The Royals did make a trade yesterday sending third baseman Emmanuel Rivera to Arizona for righthanded pitcher Luke Weaver.
The Royals also acquired left-handed pitcher Anthony Misiewicz from the Seattle Mariners for cash considerations. Misiewicz, who was designated for assignment by Seattle, was added to the Royals 40-man roster and optioned to Triple-A Omaha.
Today at 5p is the MLB trade deadline. After that point, teams will no longer be able to execute deals until the offseason.
