Heat alerts now cover the KVOE listening area Friday and Saturday.
The National Weather Service has extended a heat advisory for all area counties from 1 pm Friday to 8 pm Saturday. Initially, the advisory ended Friday evening. Air temperatures could be in the mid- to upper 90s Friday and around 100 degrees Saturday, with peak heat index readings in the 105-110 range.
Sunday could also see a high approaching 100 degrees, but chances of showers and thunderstorms gradually increase by early afternoon with more showers and storms possible through Tuesday morning. Temperatures will be in the mid-80s to low 90s for much of the work week.
