The Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce is getting set to welcome the 35th class of the Leadership Emporia Academy.
Applications for the upcoming academy are being accepted now through Aug. 12 at 5 pm. The academy provides participants with a five-week course aimed at increasing cooperative work with others as well as how to best tackle tough questions facing the community.
Since 1989 the program has had more than 650 graduates. Chamber President and CEO Jeanine McKenna says the core mission of the program has never changed, however, this is not the same program it was back in 1989.
Applications can be found online at EmporiaKSChamber.org under the “get involved” tab. Applications can also be picked up at the Chamber Office at 719 Commercial Street.
Those selected for the program will be responsible for covering the tuition fee of $400. The program will begin with a two-day retreat Sept. 22-23 and will then continue with five sessions Oct. 6, Oct. 20, Nov. 3, Nov. 17 and Dec. 1.
The program will conclude with a celebratory luncheon on Friday, Dec. 9. For more information visit EmporiaKSChamber.org.
