Two people were arrested for alleged drug and firearms violations in Osage County Monday.
According to Osage County Sheriff Chris Wells, deputies conducted a traffic stop just before 10:10 am Monday on Interstate 35 at milepost 157. During the stop, deputies allegedly located illegal narcotics and an illegal firearm in the vehicle.
Authorities then arrested the driver of the vehicle identified as 37-year-old Tanna Darnell of Independence and a passenger identified as 49-year-old Kenyon Johnson of Olathe. Darnell was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, interference with law enforcement and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Johnson was arrested on suspicion of defacing identification marks on a firearm and transporting an open container of an alcoholic beverage. Formal charges are currently pending.
