The 4th Judicial District has a new magistrate judge position it is looking to fill in Coffey County, and the district’s Nominating Commission renewed the call for names this week.
The Nominating Commission had a phone conference this week to review submissions. Word on why the board is asking for more nominations is currently pending.
Nominees need to be a resident of Coffey County; a graduate of a high school, secondary school or equivalent; and either a lawyer admitted to practice in Kansas or ready for certification within 18 months. The magistrate judge position is new for Coffey County and follows action by the Kansas Legislature earlier this year.
