Swimmers, both two and four-legged, descended on the Jones Aquatic Center Sunday to get in one last swim before the pool closed for the year.
The 20th anniversary season of the JAC concluded with the annual Pooch Plunge with hundreds of dogs and owners passing through the center’s doors. JAC Supervisor Jennifer Wegener spoke with KVOE News during the plunge and says it was a fun end to what has been a great season.
Wegener says she believes over the last 20 years the pool has become a “mainstay of the community.”
While the pool is now closed through next summer, Wegener says the facility’s doors won’t be closed quite that long. She tells KVOE News the center will be hosting a doggy Halloween party in October.
The party comes as Wegener says she and her staff have been constantly brainstorming new ideas to utilize the facility on a yearly basis, rather than just the summer season. She says there are very little in the way of concrete plans, aside from the Halloween party, however, there is a lot of potential for different events.
