Part of the KVOE listening area is set to benefit from the latest set of highway projects as announced by Kansas Governor Laura Kelly and Transportation Secretary Julie Lorenz.
The state announced 11 expansion and modernization projects for highways as part of the IKE transportation plan. This includes work on Kansas Highway 177 from southeast Morris County north into Council Grove. The three-mile, $8 million project will include “heavy” rehabilitation as well as the addition of shoulders and the replacement of two bridges. The bid should let in 2024.
All told, $520 million worth of investments is included in this round of projects.
The upcoming work on K-177 south of Council Grove is separate from the ongoing highway project from Council Grove Reservoir to Alta Vista. K-177 is being rebuilt, so the highway is officially closed until mid-November, weather permitting.
