Emporia City Commissioners will consider action on two major development projects during their regular action meeting Wednesday morning.
On the agenda will be a resolution to authorize the issuance of $1 million in general obligation bonds to assist with improvements related to the Red Brick Investments travel plaza. The bond resolution will follow possible action on a development agreement between the city and Red Brick LLC. for the paving of Brownstone Boulevard and Martin Drive as part of the plaza project.
Separately, commissioners could approve the rezoning of property at the southwest corner of Whittier St. and Riley Ave. to a planned unit development and approve a final plat for the so-called Mahtropolis Addition. Plans are to construct 27 single-family homes in the area.
Commissioners may also approve the sale of general obligation bonds, a permanent access easement for 700 Block LLC., award a bid for the Road 180 paving improvement project, a supplemental contract agreement for a 24-inch waterline design and appoint members to the Emporia Library Board.
During their regular study session, commissioners will continue discussions on the city’s logo redesign, receive an update on health insurance and discuss stormwater utility fees, a sanitary sewer project on South Arundel and review the 2023 budget.
The meetings begin at 11 am inside the Municipal Courtroom at White Auditorium.
