Concerns about a possible gas leak at Neosho Rapids Elementary were ultimately unfounded, but students and staff went to a reunification point outside the school as a precautionary measure Thursday morning.
Everybody at the school — and those coming in — had to move to a reunification point after a report of a possible gas leak shortly after 7 am. On KVOE’s 8:05 am newscast Thursday, USD 252 Southern Lyon County Superintendent Mike Argabright says the timing — right before school on the second day of classes — could have been challenging, but everybody handled the situation well.
Argabright also thanked Hartford-Neosho Rapids and Emporia firefighters, as well as Lyon County Emergency Management, for their quick response.
