The Emporia State football team held their 9th practice under the lights last night.
Coach Garin Higgins said being under the lights and in front of a good group of boosters made for a good practice.
The Hornets will hold their next two practices under the lights.
Another of the many strengths for the Hornets will be the kickers. All-American punter Ross Brungardt returns.
Kicker Sam Dobbins earned 2nd team All-MIAA honors last year making after 45 of 46 extra points also returns.
Also returning is Billy Ross Jr who was a 3rd-team All-MIAA kick returner.
Special teams Coach Eriq Moore says this can be a special group.
The Hornets will be playing the season without one of their key offensive players. Senior Stinger Back Dalton Cowan has been ruled out for the season with a concussion.
Coach Garin Higgins says he will be missed on the field.
Cowan missed the last 6 games of the season last year due to a concussion.
