The Emporia State volleyball team was picked to finish ninth in the MIAA preseason poll released Friday morning.
Northwest Missouri is the preseason favorite and received three first-place votes. Nebraska-Kearney, Washburn, and Central Missouri were picked to finish second. Nebraska-Kearney and Washburn each received three first-place votes while Central Missouri earned two first-place votes.
Central Oklahoma rounds out the top five followed by Pittsburg State, Missouri Western, ESU, Missouri Southern and Newman.
The Hornets open up their season next Friday in St. Louis, Missouri.
