Friday afternoon has a 50-50 chance of showers and storms for the afternoon and evening time periods. There is also a marginal risk of severe weather for both time periods.
The National Weather Service has all area counties in a marginal risk for hail up to quarter size and winds up to 60 mph.
Storms across parts of the KVOE listening area Friday morning are not expected to be severe.
Rain totals could be widely varied, and rain is increasingly needed across the area. Most of the KVOE listening area, essentially between the US Highway 56 corridor and north of a line from Teterville to Burlington, is in moderate drought. Areas south of the Teterville-Burlington line are in severe drought. Areas north of US Highway 56 are abnormally dry.
