The process continues for finding the person to fill a new judge position in Coffey County.
The 4th Judicial District Nominating Commission is meeting Sept. 1 to review nominations for the new magistrate judge position. This is actually the second review for the board after a meeting Aug. 10 and a subsequent call for more nominations.
Nominees need to be a resident of Coffey County; a graduate of a high school, secondary school or equivalent; and either a lawyer admitted to practice in Kansas or ready for certification within 18 months.
The position is one of several new judge posts across the state after action by the Kansas Legislature earlier this year.
