A status hearing is next for a New Mexico woman accused of leading a four-county chase starting near Emporia back in late June.
Rebecca Estrada had a status conference earlier this month in Franklin County and is set for a similar hearing via Zoom on Sept. 12.
Estrada has been charged with several criminal counts in Franklin County, including aggravated battery on law enforcement, interference with law enforcement, aggravated assault, aggravated vehicular burglary and drug possession after the alleged incident. She is accused of leading a chase through Coffey and Osage counties before stopping in Ottawa. As the alleged chase ended, she’s also accused of hitting a Franklin County deputy with her vehicle, forcing the deputy to go to the hospital briefly, and hitting two Lyon County cruisers before getting into an unlocked semi and triggering a nearly four-hour standoff before she was arrested.
Estrada is also charged with flee and elude, interference with law enforcement and other counts in Lyon County. Hearings in Emporia will follow the court process in Franklin County once it’s completed in Ottawa.
