The West Highway 50 resurfacing project is officially underway.
Crews are concentrating on the east side of the overall work zone, with work starting to repair and reconstruct the northeast corner of the intersection at Sixth and Rural. Traffic on Sixth cannot turn northbound onto Rural at this time, and westbound traffic on Sixth has shifted to the inside driving lane for this part of the project. The reconstruction work at Sixth and Rural should be done by early September.
The full scope of the project will include milling one lane at a time, asphalt overlay across all five lanes of traffic and new pavement markings. The project is expected to last through mid-October, weather permitting, and follows a significant waterline replacement project on West Sixth that affected traffic for several months.
