Applications for concealed carry licenses dropped from fiscal 2021 to fiscal 2022.
Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt says there were over 4,500 new applications for the fiscal year that ended June 30, well below the over 7,700 applications in the prior fiscal year.
Meanwhile, over 15,000 residents applied to renew their licenses in fiscal 2022.
The state’s licensing program began in 2006. Over 81,000 Kansas residents now have active licenses, and Kansas licenses are recognized in 40 states.
