A scheduled power outage is coming to portions of Greenwood County Thursday evening.
According to a post on the City of Hamilton’s Facebook page Thursday, Evergy will be shutting off power to the city beginning shortly after 10 pm. Evergy District Services Manager Rolland Trahoon II says the outage will also affect the cities of Virgil and Quincy.
Trahoon says the outage will allow Evergy crews to conduct updates to a series of “loop feeds” in the area to help increase energy reliability.
Trahoon also says this project was scheduled twice prior but had to be postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions.
Following the project’s announcement, area residents voiced some concerns about the scheduled outage and stated they had not received any prior notice. Evergy says notices were mailed out to residents on the first of August.
Trahoon says the outage should be restored by 5 am Friday morning.
