The 14th-ranked Emporia State soccer team was shut out by West Texas A&M 3-0 in their season opener Friday.
The Lady Hornets were outshot 13-5 on goal. West Texas scored their first goal on a PK in the 18th minute of play. They added a goal in the 40th minute of play to lead 2-0 at halftime.
The Lady Hornets travel to Austin, Texas for a match against St. Edwards on Sunday.
