Typically, Emporia’s community murals cover one wall — or part of one wall. That was definitely not the case at Earthly Delights, 105 East 12th, on Friday.
As many as 300 people spent time Friday painting all around the building. Alex Polzin says it was amazing for him and his wife, Andrea, to see an idea come together the way this one did.
Business owner Shannon Takla was beaming throughout the painting.
Takla also credited Emporia First Friday Director Kaila Mock for her work in getting the project off the ground. Mock says it’s good to see the mural move foward.
The mural serves as a visual advertisement for the business — and for what the business isn’t. Earthly Delights sells plants and related items, but it does not sell anything marijuana-related. It’s next to a massage parlor, so some people have mistakenly thought Earthly Delights was connected to the massage business directly to the east.
