The Madison Bulldogs kicked off the Area Game of the Week season with a dominating 66-6 victory over the Hartford Jaguars Friday night.
Madison controlled the tempo without putting up 24 unanswered points in the first quarter thanks to the three touchdown runs by senior Bryson Turner. Quarterback Hayden Helm added an 18-yard touchdown pass to senior Gavin Isch to take a 30-0 lead into the second quarter. Hartford would respond with a 55-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Ali Smith to sophomore Tyson Bulson for Hartford’s only points of the game.
Madison would add three touchdown runs and two pick-sixes to close out the win including a 40-yard return by Isch. He says it was a good start to the year.
Head Coach Alex McMillian says he had a lot of personnel questions heading into the game. After the win he says he still has more questions than answers, but for all of the right reasons.
McMillian also collected his 50th career win Friday. He says its not a bad way to start the year.
Turner led the Madison offense with 136 yards on 12 carries. Madison had 258 yards of total offense.
Hartford ended the night with 121 yards of total offense. Madison now begins the year 1-0 as Hartford falls to 0-1.
