A Topeka man has died following a motorcyle crash north of Admire Sunday.
The Highway Patrol’s crash log says 71-year-old Joseph Mueller was northbound on Kansas Highway 99 when he crashed around 12:25 pm near Road 370, between Admire and the Lyon-Wabaunsee county line. Mueller was going around a curve and went off the highway for currently unlisted reasons. He and his motorcycle flipped into a ditch nearby.
Mueller was taken by ambulance to Newman Regional Health with suspected serious injuries and later airlifted to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. Monday afternoon, the crash log indicated Meuller had died of his injuries.
Mueller was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Mueller suffered potentially serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Newman Regional Health. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says Mueller was airlifted to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Mueller was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

One person was taken to Newman Regional Health with suspected serious injuries after a motorcycle wreck in north Lyon County on Sunday.
Lyon County deputies joined emergency responders from Emporia and Allen-Admire on Kansas Highway 99 near Road 370, with the crash being called into Lyon County Emergency Communications around 12:30 pm. The patient was taken to Emporia and subsequently flown to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for treatment. The patient’s name has not been divulged and there is currently no additional information about the crash.
The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.

12:50 pm Sunday: Wreck with reported injuries noted north of Admire
Emergency responders and law enforcement authorities are at the scene of a reported injury crash involving a motorcycle in north-central Lyon County.
Emporia Fire and Allen-Admire crews were dispatched to Kansas Highway 99 near Road 370, about three miles north of Admire and three miles south of the Lyon-Wabaunsee county line, around 12:30 pm. Early indications are one motorcycle was involved. Additional details about the crash are currently pending.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area until further notice.
