Companies wanting to bid on improving the 1900 Theater in Strong City are running out of time to make their submissions.
Bids are due to City Hall by 3 pm Friday. This will involve a partial renovation to areas like the lobby, balcony, front steps, front door and windows, thanks to a Heritage Trust Fund grant. Spokesman Justin Garr says the main focus with this project is the lobby area.
This follows a complete roof rebuild, interior debris cleanup, stabilization of north and south walls, facade painting and other projects.
The theater was completed in 1901 and was known as the Strong City Opera House, Rialto Theater and Uptown Theater during its time as a theater. The roof collapsed in 2000, and renovations have been a goal of Strong City residents since then.
Bids will be opened at the City Council meeting Sept. 12. To get a bid packet by email, call Garr at 620-794-5336.
