Evidently, when Professor Stillman P. Vincent was explaining supply and demand in the labor force back when I was an undergraduate at E-State in the sixties I wasn’t paying attention.
How does the USA have near record low unemployment, but not enough workers to get things done? Where is our workforce and why can’t we get it mobilized? For a truly robust economy, we need all hands on deck.
Obviously, the pandemic altered work habits in ways no one could have imagined.
The bottom line is we need people back at work and more workers period.
How does immigration play into this equation? Politics for sure are a big impediment to getting our workforce back on the job.
Instead of offering a solution let me just thank those Americans and want-a-be Americans who are working.
Winnie the Pooh said it well.
“I am just so very GRATEFUL this very moment, to have a roof over my head, food to eat, clean clothes to wear, a warm bed to sleep in, drinkable running water, electricity {and our hard-working people}. We take so much for granted when there is so much to be grateful for.
Thanks, Mr. Pooh. You are correct. It’s time to show our gratitude for our lives, our jobs, our wonderful country and the workers who make us great.
