Vacant for a little over a year, the former Newman Therapy Services building is now demolished.
Workers tore down the building over the past week.
The building at 1024 West 12th was built in 1945, according to Lyon County records. It had become structurally unsound over time, according to Newman Regional Health Chief Executive Officer Bob Wright. Last year, the hospital finished a project to remodel its original emergency room space for housing its outpatient physical, speech, occupational and specialty therapy programs.
Wright says the parking lot on the south side of the building will remain in place. Once the demolition debris is removed, the dirt will be seeded.
