Flu shots are becoming more prevalent in the area, and county health departments are starting to schedule special clinics to get the public vaccinated.
CareArc has its annual drive-thru flu shot clinic Oct. 7 from 7:30 am to 4 pm. The flu shot is free with most insurance providers. For uninsured residents, the flu shot wil cost $30 and is payable by cash or check.
Residents can fill out the needed paperwork online by going to www.publichealth.lyoncounty.org.
Area counties are either announcing clinics or will be announcing shortly. Greenwood County has several locations set for clinics between Oct. 11-20. Wabaunsee County had a clinic Monday (this) morning at Harveyville Church of Christ and has several others across the county through Sept. 22.
There will not be any special COVID-19 testing or vaccinations available during the drive-thru flu shot, but residents can schedule either a COVID-19 test or vaccination by calling CareArc at 620-342-4864. Residents can also get free home test kits at CareArc if they choose.
