Jury trial may begin as soon as next week for a man accused of aggravated sexual battery against a child and other counts in Lyon County from earlier this year.
Peter Larun McDonald III has his final pretrial hearing at 4 pm Wednesday. Depending on how Wednesday’s hearing goes, McDonald’s trial could start Monday, Oct. 24 or Halloween.
Court documents indicate McDonald was allegedly involved with a 16-year-old in early March.
Besides aggravated sexual battery, McDonald is charged with attempted aggravated criminal sodomy and aggravated burglary.
Separately, court processes are underway for one woman accused of aggravated child endangerment in a Lyon County case.
Whitney Anderson faces one count of that activity. Authorities say Anderson had minor children nearby when methamphetamine was being distributed in early April 2021. Details are pending.
Anderson’s first appearance is at 12:45 pm Tuesday.
Anderson’s life partner at the time of the alleged incident, Corey Brooks, has already pleaded no contest to drug distribution and aggravated child endangerment charges.
Also, a pretrial hearing is coming next month for a man suspected of aggravated battery in Lyon County.
Vince Uranga faces a single count of aggravated battery after an alleged incident in February. That count has two alternate counts, one of aggravated battery and one of domestic battery. She also faces single counts of marijuana possession, paraphernalia possession and criminal use of weapons. Incident details have not been announced.
The pretrial hearing is at 2 pm Oct. 14 before Judge Lee Fowler.
