5:30 am Sunday: Severe thunderstorm watch west of Emporia expires with no severe weather reported
A severe thunderstorm watch north and west of Emporia was allowed to expire around midnight.
The watch did not lead to any severe weather reports for the affected counties — Chase, Morris or Wabaunsee. Reports from activity earlier Saturday can be found below.
2-11 pm Saturday: Numerous reports of severe weather with storm complex
A strong thunderstorm cluster brought numerous reports of severe weather to the north half of the KVOE listening area Saturday afternoon.

*Lake Kahola: 0.88-inch hail
*Neosho Rapids: 1.75-inch hail

*Emporia: Roughly 100 Evergy customers lost power. Northbound traffic on Industrial is blocked between 12th and 15th due to a downed utility pole. One house had a tree fall onto its roof.
*Americus: Tree damage and trees up to six inches in diameter uprooted. Barn damage. Dog house destroyed. Over 30 Evergy customers without power
*Neosho Rapids: 60 mph winds. Scattered tree damage. Over 60 Evergy customers without power
*Reading: 70 mph winds

In addition, Emporia State’s Welch Stadium was evacuated for nearly two hours because of the storm activity. Emporia State’s game against Missouri Western was at the half when it was halted. It has since resumed. Also, the high school rodeo taking place at the Lyon County Fairgrounds was delayed due to lightning by about 90 minutes before resuming.

1:50 pm Saturday: Quarter-sized hail reported in central Morris County
Isolated severe weather developed with storms northwest of Emporia on Saturday afternoon.
Quarter-size hail was reported three miles northwest of Wilsey in central Morris County shortly after 1 pm as part of a severe thunderstorm complex. Currently, no other severe weather has been reported and rainfall reports are pending.
There is currently a marginal risk of severe weather along and west of the Kansas Turnpike involving hail up to the size of quarters and winds up to 60 mph.
