The Emporia High football team scored first and last but it was not enough in a 56-24 loss to Salina Central Friday night.
The Spartans scored on their first possession, Alex Allemang kicked a 28-yard field goal to give Emporia High a 3-0 lead.
Salina Central scored the next 35 points before Derrick Keys scored on a 1-yard touchdown run to cut the deficit to 35-10.
Sheldon Stewart connected with Cooper Rech on a 5-yard touchdown pass to make it 56-17. Stewart added a 3-yard touchdown run to close out the scoring.
With the loss, the Emporia High football team falls to 1-2 for the season. They will play at Topeka High next Friday.
