Drive-thru food drive coming Thursday for United Way of Flint Hills

Area residents are asked to donate food Thursday as the United Way of the Flint Hills continues its annual fundraising drive.

Thursday marks the third annual drive-thru food drive for the United Way. Activities will be at the Lyon County Fairgrounds. Residents are asked to enter the Fairgrounds by using the 12th Avenue entrance. CEO Mickey Edwards says the event, which developed as a way to help in the early stages of COVID-19, has become a big way to help regardless of the virus.

Drive co-chair Scott Hayes says every little bit helps.

The United Way is asking residents to donate non-perishable food, cleaning products and personal care items. Donations will support Emporia Salvation Army, SOS and Morris County Care and Share.

Monetary donations will also be accepted, either at the Fairgrounds or online at www.unitedwayoftheflinthills.org/donate.
