The Kansas City Royals today announced the dismissal of General Manager Dayton Moore. Royals Chairman and CEO John Sherman made the announcement.
Sherman also announced that J.J. Picollo has been named Executive Vice President and General Manager overseeing baseball operations, effective immediately.
Sherman said he appreciated what Dayton accomplished over his 16-plus seasons with the Royals.
Sherman said the team has not met expectations and it was time for a change.
Sherman said he has high expectations for the team.
Dayton Moore said he was proud of what the Royals accomplished.
John Sherman said there could be more changes coming.
