Flint Hills Technical College has The Cut back on the community calendar next month with a notable change.
In years past, the event has focused on culinary arts students, including an all-star victor’s event last year. This year, there will be a combination of culinary arts students and some of Emporia’s notable chefs. Foundation Director Mike Crouch explained why on KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Thursday:
The list of participants is as follows:
*Radius Brewing executive chef and co-owner Justin “Gus” Bays and student sous chef Noah Wiedner
*Do’B’s chef and night manager Chris Linebarger and student sous chef Ava Kimmerly
*Gourmet to Go Catering executive chef and owner Jessica Symmonds and student sous chef Seth Browning
*Culinary Institute of America assistant professor and former Flint Hills Technical College Culinary Arts director Lance Nitihara and student sous chef Anthony Childers
The judging panel is to be determined. KVOE News Director Chuck Samples will serve as emcee.
Proceeds from the event will help the Wrangler Relief Fund and the recently-established Wrangler Ranch food pantry for students in emergency situations. Residents attending The Cut are asked to bring non-perishable food items to get the food pantry started.
Tickets are on sale now at $25 per person. Attendance will be limited to 200. For more information, go online to www.fhtc.edu/foundation or call 620-341-1380.
