Democratic candidate for Kansas Secretary of State Jeanna Repass’ recent campaign tour brought her to Emporia Wednesday evening.
Repass made a stop at the Lyon County Democratic Headquarters at 915 Commercial Street for a meet and greet with local constituents. Prior to that, Repass sat down with KVOE News to discuss some of the major issues she has heard expressed by candidates across the state.
According to Repass the most common concern she has heard expressed by Kansas voters revolves around election security. According to Repass, the state had right around 300 vote audits since 2020 which she attributes in part to developments at the national level.
Repass says another contributing factor is “passion.” She says when individuals have a high level of passion for the issues it can be difficult to accept results that are not in their favor.
That being said, Repass says it is important for voters to be passionate about their beliefs, however, she says voters should never let their passion for issues blind them to the best candidates on the ballot.
Repass will be facing Republican incumbent Scott Schwab in the general election on Nov. 8.
